3 places where you can spend a day out in the open air on Monte Pisano

Spring has arrived with the first warm sunshine and we would like to present three places we love where you can spend a day out in the open air! Monte Pisano, less than ten minutes from the cities of Lucca and Pisa, offers nature, relaxation and areas which are accessible even to the elderly, easily reached by car.

They are not overcrowded or noisy, luckily in our small corner of Tuscany we are spoilt for choice!

[SEA] The Beach at Marina di Vecchiano

You can spend a relaxing day at the beach in Marina di Vecchiano, part of the Nature Park of Migliarino, San Rossore and Massaciuccoli: this area has maintained its natural authenticity over time, preserving its wild and untamed essence, though there are some amenities.

There are two beach clubs, open only during the summer months, and a pleasant bar where can you sip on an aperitivo at sunset. This place is quite enchanting, even during the colder months, when you can stroll along the beach with the sea on one side and the beautiful view of Monte Pisano and the Apuan Alps on the other.

[COUNTRYSIDE] Santallago

If you enjoy barbecues, Santallago is the ideal place for you.

This valley, surrounded by trees, is situated on the road up to Monte Faeta, just after the junction that leads down to Buti, and is easily reached by car.

It is an incredibly captivating location and there are barbecue grills and a good bar/restaurant service.
During the holidays it is probably not the ideal place for those looking for peace and quite, but the area is very big and there is room for all! Don’t be put off 🙂

[LAKE} Lake of Massaciuccoli

And finally our beloved Lake of Massaciuccoli, where you can have lunch in one of the small restaurants near the shore and after enjoy a walk along the board walks suspended above the water.

This place offers wonderful opportunities for photography enthusiasts.

Travelling is my constant passion and companion, in addition to sports, motorbikes and good food. I am an ex-chef and, after years spent in the kitchen, I decided to reinvent myself and to study Tourism and Marketing, which led me to Montepisano Store. I hope you enjoy reading my experiences, because they are authentic and first-hand.
