One of the most original wine tours in Italy: visit the area of Colli di Luni and taste excellent wines while admiring the ocean and learn all the secrets of Vermentino, the king of the coastal grape varieties.

Spend the day in a marvellous territory with enchanting views over the Ligurian Sea surrounded by spectacular vineyards and cuddled by a gentle breeze. This is an ideal activity for wine lovers in search of peace and tranquillity.

Your private tour guide and wine expert will meet you at an easy meeting point in the coastal town of Sarzana. From here you will start going uphill onto a land of great fascination, spotted by iconic castles. This territory is very near to La Spezia, so this tour is a great opportunity for a one-of-a-kind shore excursion.

The day starts with the visit to one very small winery resulting from the dream of a young couple who wanted to dedicate their life to top quality wines recovering some ancient vineyards in the steep hills of Fosdinovo. As of today, they reached a production of 7000 bottles per year with a particular attention to their Vermentino grapes. The visit to the estate includes a nice walk in the vineyards with stunning views over the valley of the Magra river. A tasting of 3 wines completes this segment of the tour.

The adventure continues with a guided visit to one of the best preserved castles in the whole Tuscany: the Malaspina Castle in Fosdinovo. Explore a spectacular fortress from the 12th century built to control the strategic valley over the most important river of the Lunigiana valley and enjoy a lot of interesting stories about the people who inhabited it… and the ghost who haunts it. The visit to the castle is a great opportunity to admire incredible views over South Liguria and Northern Tuscany.

The day continues with a little stroll in the medieval town of Fosdinovo, just before sitting at a table in a very comfortable restaurant right in one of the ancient buildings in town. Here you will enjoy a full lunch based on local specialties by the chef Jonathan.

The journey into the world of Vermentino continues with the visit to the largest winery of the district, a producer of around 200.000 bottles per year, famous for exporting local wines to the whole world. Here you will have the chance to taste also the rare Vermentino Nero, an autoctonous grape from the hills around Luni, together with 2 more wines.

The day ends at a third winery, where you can enjoy some enchanting views over the ocean. This winery chose to create fragrant wines only through the use of stainless steel and cement, so you can taste a direct expression of Vermentino. Again you will enjoy three different wines from this estate.
