Three beaches close to Monte Pisano

Summer has now arrived and although many people associate the word mountain with everything except the sea, Monte Pisano is an exception. This territory in fact located in the northern part of Tuscany a few km from the sea allowing anyone who stays in one of the seven municipalities of Monte Pisano to reach one of the seaside beaches in no time.

So we decided to make a short guide to cool off without giving up anything; for each beach you will find some useful information about parking, establishments and restaurants to better plan your day or holiday.

Marina di Torre del Lago


Park: Yes for a fee

Reachable by public transport: Yes

Type of beach: Sand

The beach of Marina di Torre del Lago is one of the three beaches close to Monte Pisano, it is located in the north west on the imaginary border that delimits the Park of San Rossore – Migliarino – Massaciuccoli and Versilia. The beach can be used both thanks to the bathing establishments equipped with all comforts such as deck chairs, umbrellas, gazebos, bars, showers, restaurants and playgrounds. A few meters from the equipped beaches, you can instead access the free beach that stretches for several km to the south and north. The environment is typical Mediterranean with pine forests, dunes and related fauna.

The beach can be reached by car from the A11 and A12 motorway exits at the Pisa Nord or Viareggio toll booths

Marina di Vecchiano

Reachable by public transport:  Yes by bus from Pisa and neighboring towns – 2 connections a day, one in the morning, not in the afternoon (Bus company website)

Marina di Vecchiano beach is located west of Monte Pisano and south of the previously mentioned beach, it is part of the San Rossore Massaciuccoli and Migliarino Regional Park and is characterized by its sand dunes typical of the Mediterranean scrub. Marina di Vecchiano beach is the least urbanized of the three listed and allows you to enjoy different comforts such as restaurants, bars, showers and toilets without sacrificing nature and the environment. In Marina di Vecchiano there are 3 bathing establishments with their bars and restaurants.

The beach can be reached by car by exiting the A12 at the Pisa Nord exit and following the signs for “Marina di Vecchiano”. A connection by bus allows you to spend the morning at the beach, the afternoon or the whole day thanks to 3 daily trips from Pisa that cross the villages of San Giuliano Terme, Pontasserchio, Vecchiano and Migliarino. Taking advantage of the various connections, you can also reach the beach from Filettole, Lucca and all the towns of the Lungomonte.


Marina di Pisa – Tirrenia

Type of beach: Sand and gravel

The beach of Marina di Pisa and Tirrenia extends for several kilometers southwest of Monte Pisano. It starts from the port of Marina di Pisa and ends in Calambrone on the border with the province of Livorno. The beach is varied between areas of fine sand and others of white gravel, some parts of the beach are protected by artificial cliffs while others have a direct outlet to the sea. The entire beach alternates between bathing establishments and free beaches even if the equipped ones prevail. Almost all the bathing establishments have cabins, umbrellas and an internal restaurant available. At the same time you can reach the centers of Tirrenia, Marina di Pisa and Calambrone very quickly where you can find many restaurants, bars and various attractions

The beach can also be reached by bike from our store thanks to our bike rental and the MontePisano app

The beach can be reached by bus with runs every 15 minutes in summer from Pisa and Livorno. It is possible to reach it by car exiting the A12 to Pisa Centro or from Livorno. Parking is mainly paid but several free parking areas are available
