The tour starts at the Montepisano Store in San Giuliano Terme. From here you reach the Ciclovia Puccini, a cycle path that runs along the Serchio river to Ponte a Moriano: one of the last towns in the Lucchesia before entering Garfagnana. We will take this road up to Lucca, we will cross different natural sceneries along the rapid currents of the Serchio river which, after having traveled many kilometers, goes towards the sea. Along the way we will cross what many centuries ago was the border between the Pisan Republic and Lucca. Several towers, a large fortress and a castle perched on a hill will immerse us in a distant past that reaches us today, with these border fortifications. We will continue along the river with its waterfalls and its islands of white stones, until we reach the city of Lucca where it will be possible to cycle along the 4km elevated path that runs along the ancient city walls. Once you have visited the city you will return to Monte Pisano, this time passing by the Gattaiola vineyards where you can choose to stop in a local winery and taste the delicious wine sitting among the rows.

During the whole tour a professional guide will assist the group and tell everything about nature and history of these incredible places.

0-4 km
Departing from Piazza Italia in San Giuliano Terme, in front of the Bagni di Pisa, proceed North on Viale XX Settembre in the direction of the river Serchio crossing the village of Orzignano and proceed towards the Puccini cycle route along the canal.
4-9 km
Proceed along the cycle track that goes up the Serchio river in a northerly direction as far as Ripafratta, where the cycle/pedestrian path stops. At this point we go through Ripafratta and perhaps visit  its Rocca, a historic building in the process of being restored.
9-12 km
The cycle path starts again after crossing the railway and a canal. The Serchio river is always on our left up to Cerasomma where the route moves away from the Ozzeri canal to be closer to the Serchio river.
12-19 km
We continue along  7Km of very pleasant tracks and grass paths. You go past the motorway and enter Ponte San Pietro. In this section the route coincides with the Via Francigena.
19-20 km
From the banks of the river to the Walls of Lucca there is about 1km of secondary tarmacked roads.  Entering the city through the walls you can see  "Lucca drento".
20-22 km
From here you can decide whether to follow the city walls to Porta San Pietro or to explore  the city's cobbled alleys and main streets. In either case the exit from the city is via Porta San Pietro towards the train station. You reach it using the  underground passages and on the other side you take the route of the monumental Nottolini Aqueduct.
22-24 km
The route starts from the so-called Tempietto di San Concordio and runs parallel to the arches of the monumental Aqueduct, a 18th century work by Lorenzo Nottolini. In the locality of Sorbano del Giudice, after a few crossings, including the overpass of the A12 motorway, we leave the Aqueduct.
24-27 km
We proceed  along the country roads between Sorbano and Pontetetto up to the Ozzeri canal.
27-28 km
After a short stretch along the banks of the canal we reach the town of Gattaiola, where we will have the possibility of a refreshment break at the Azienda Agricola dei Fratelli Urbani.
28-32 km
After this enjoyable break, the itinerary continues through the countryside, following the gentle rolling hills to Cerasomma, retracing our steps.
32-38 km
This time however we stay on the SS dell'Abetone, not the cycle path,  which will take us quickly through  Ripafratta. Then following the path along the state canal we reach Molina di Quosa. On the last stretch back to San Giuliano there are two other possible places to visit: Museo Radico and Villa di Corliano.
