Trekking on Monte Pisano

Let’s discover Monte Pisano on foot: routes off the beaten paths, surrounded by amazing nature with wonderful views just out of town. Monte Pisano area will surprise you with its history, too: archaeology, middle age hamlets, renaissance villas….a whole treasure chest just to be experienced!

With this activity you will cross the beautiful paths of Monte Pisano area: a good excercise for your legs while discovering nature, art and history. Backpacking and accompanied by a licenced hiking guide you can admire all the treasures and secrets that this magical place can offer.

San Giuliano Terme track
(Every first week of the month)
Path: 5Km
Difference in altitude: 250m
Duration: 2h 30m
Our route starts from the town of San Giuliano Terme and includes  stages of significant interest both in terms of landscape and history: the famous 'Dante's Pass' mentioned by the Poet in the Divine Comedy's 'Inferno'; the archaeological site of Monte Castellare where findings of both an Etruscan historical phase and an early medieval phase had been discovered; the  Spelonca Hermitage founded at the end of the XII century. at the mouth of a cave.
Vicopisano track
(Every second week of the month)
Path: 8Km
Difference in altitude: 300m
Duration: 3h
Short ring starting from Vicopisano to get to know the slopes of the reliefs that dominate the village. In a succession of lush vegetation and limestone, Mediterranean scrub and waterways, we will discover panoramas, traces of history and local production that characterize this surprising portion of the territory of Monte Pisano.
Asciano track
(Every third week of the month and fifth week of July)

Duration: 2h 30m
The route develops on the southwestern side of Monte Pisano, inside of the Protected Area 'Spring Valley'. From this area water is channeled for Pisa water supply and for the neighboring areas. Maritime pine wood was also harvested for supply the Maritime Republic of Pisa, while the chestnut trees planted in the XVI century have given an important source of livelihood to populations local, especially with the production of flour.
Montemagno and "Certosa di calci" track
(Every fourth week of the month)
Path: 8Km
Difference in altitude: 430m
Duration: 3h
From the Certosa di Calci you go up the eastern slopes of the Calci basin to discover Nicosia and Montemagno giving an overview of yesterday and today life on the slopes of Monte. An excellent half-day excursion to combine with a visit to the Charterhouse


We recommend to bring: hiking shoes or sneakers, long trousers, at least 1 liter of water, hat
The hiking guide reserves the right to ascertain the level of preparation of each individual participant.
In case of bad weather and based on the technical preparation of the participants, the hiking guide could choose the place and the path most convenient for the activity.

The fee does not include: Transfers, unscheduled food expenses and anything not mentioned in "the fee includes".
Cancellation terms: in case of bad weather, it will be necessary to change the date of the activity. If the customer is unable to change the date, a refund of 50% of the amount paid as a deposit (for opening costs) will be provided. If the customer does not show up and does not cancel within the 24 hours preceding the activity, it will not be refunded. In the event that the customer wishes to cancel the booking, a refund of 50% of the amount paid as a deposit (for opening costs) will be made if this occurs within 24 hours of the booked event. After this deadline there will be no refund
